CYBORGIAN MONOLOGUE:

Exploring Analog and Digital Consciousness

"Cyborgian Monologue" delves into the realms of analog and digital consciousness, inviting viewers on an enigmatic journey beyond the familiar. Through the perspective of a malfunctioning cyborg, the film explores a hyper-realistic, distorted digital realm born from a 3D scan of the creator's workspace. As the cyborg grapples with glitches and fragmented visions, it embarks on a circular odyssey of introspection, forging connections with human consciousness within its mechanical core. The film's creative process blends technology and personal expression, incorporating analog-like glitches and interactive sound effects to enhance its disorienting ambiance. Crafted as a dialogue with ChatGPT, the cyborg's internal monologue is voiced through an evocative soundscape, encouraging contemplation of humanity's intersection with technology and the mysteries of existence. "Cyborgian Monologue" offers a mind-bending audiovisual experience, inviting audiences to embrace the mystique of reality.

OCHRE WASTELAND

As you enter "Ochre Wasteland," you step into a realm of contemplation, a digital dystopia awaiting your immersive observation. Split-screen visuals: on one side, the intimate gaze of an eye enveloped in ochre-colored glitches; on the other, a black-and-white abstract landscape distorted by analog glitch effects.

As your gaze meets the eye, surrounded by hues evocative of desert sands, and the landscape transforms into a fragmented reality, you are urged to delve deeper into the immersive experience. The soundtrack, echoing distorted fragments of the original cyborgian monologue, adds depth, hinting at hidden noise amidst the stillness of turmoil.

In this immersive journey, you become the observer of liminal textures, navigating the blurred boundaries between the analog and the digital, the human and the artificial. Just as glitches and noises are concealed within the landscape, so too are they hidden within yourself. By immersing yourself in this visceral world, you are prompted to explore these hidden depths, embracing the beauty that emerges amidst the chaos of the "Ochre Wasteland."

FENG SHUI AND IMPERMANENCE OF GLITCH

// “In Chinese, feng means wind, and shui means water,” she started. “And we have a proverb that goes, ‘Birds don’t fly – they are flown by the wind. Fish don’t swim – they are carried by the water.'” And that is the whole idea of feng shui, that there are energies that exist in the world and by arranging your space a certain way, you are taking advantage of those energies and “riding” them. //

In this audiovisual piece, I explore the glitch concept as part of the natural forces of impermanence by superimposing it with the ideas of Feng Shui. Harnessing the visual errors in search of balance and embracing the textual entropy. Here the abstract visuals and sonic randomness form a somewhat dissonant harmony.

LIMINAL GALLERIES

"Liminal Galleries Exhibit" showcases a series of Distortion Paintings. Leveraging AI technology, I generate dark, liminal gallery spaces to showcase my artworks. The exhibition features my AV pieces, portraying fragmented memories and glitches sourced from the archives of my Mind Palace.

ISOLATION ROOMS

ISOLATION ROOMS: A video sketch for an immersive audiovisual installation that explores human emotions through analog and glitch aesthetics. Modified analog video synthesizers are used to elicit worlds of visual errors and distortions and deliberately create portals to challenge perfection and embrace uniqueness. Motivated by the beauty in imperfections, this piece encourages introspection, self-discovery, and a profound appreciation for empathy, connection, and the analog-human imperfections that define reality.

There are 11 short sequences within the video sketch, that explore variations of AV projections within a dark liminal space.

ECHOES OF LOST VENUS

Analog video union VOL 5
Theme: Lost and Found
Artwork: Echoes of Lost Venus
Sound design and vision by Egle Saka. 2023

"Echoes of Lost Venus" reflects a rediscovery of a meaningful image from my past art projects. The female Venus figure was a frequent theme in my early screen prints, symbolizing a muse and goddess. Over time, the meaning behind her presence in my work has changed. After being forgotten for a while, I found inspiration again in her for this new piece.

The journey of this image started with a photo of a small Venus sculpture in my garden (circa 2016). After taking pictures, I used analog glitch gear to process them for a print edition. Later, I reworked this image into a video and sound art piece, adding more layers to the story of "Echoes of Lost Venus."

LAST TV SUPPER

Analog Video Union VOL.2
Theme: TV PARTY
Sound Design and vision by Egle Saka 2023

Last TV supper by Egle Saka is a 3D scan of an audiovisual installation made in real life.
Part of an artist residency programme at “ISKROVOS” festival in Panevezys, Lithuania, July 2023.

The installation consists of a life feed CCTV camera and a collection of old CRT monitors and various other screens found in an abandoned industrial building where the residency took place. With the goals of repurposing the unused post-soviet buildings into creative hubs for artists to gather and explore their creative practices.

The camera here is the main source of input running through all of the screens. Using analog video mixers, glitch boxes and analog video feedback techniques, the viewer sees their own self image distorted and glitched across the long table of screens. Egle believes that through glitch art, one can achieve a deeper dive into visceral layers of the surface self and exoplore the ever more hidden noise inside ones identity.

This installation invites the viewer to contemplate their own self image and identity in relation to the abandoned environment in present times. Accompanied by an experimental soundscape made using distorted field recordings and modular synthesis, the installation space becomes an immersive meditative/contemplative space for the viewer to explore their own boundaries of perception and perhaps have the experience of a last supper with the shadow self reflections seen on screens.

Experiential,
